RULES REGARDING TEAMS PLAYING A REDUCED ROSTER (2022)

For teams that participate for part of a roster (and are considered a team in their own right)

The reduced roster is agreed upon by NHSSA and the participating school prior to the roster beginning. Under this arrangement, all games not played, will be awarded one point.

Teams will not be given this point for a game not played where they become unavailable part way through a roster. This will be considered a forfeit if it cannot be factored into the existing roster.

E.g., A team playing for half a 14 round roster will be awarded an extra 7 points. If the number of rounds played is odd, then they will be given the higher amount i.e., 13 rounds – 7 points.

All players still need to be qualified* to play in finals.

For teams that are playing alternate weeks or alternate terms but essentially playing every week therefore considering themselves one team:

The scores are simply added together for the final result.

If the team makes it to a final (semi or grand), they must ensure that only qualified* players take the field.

Team lists must be produced on request indicating players name, grade, the number of games played with the team they are named in to play. (This rule applies to all teams prior to any final)

  1. When selecting the team to play in either a semi or grand final there needs to be consideration made to include all eligible players and it is preferable that all players play a minimum of half a game.

*A qualified player.

1)A player must have played at least half the roster games for a team in that season, in that competition, to qualify to play for finals for the same team.

2)For teams that have only played half the roster a qualified player is considered as a player who has played half the number of games possible.  (6 or 7 games possible – 3 games played).

*If a school has two teams in one Division but are playing as one team, the players selected for finals team must have played at least half the rostered matches for their original team.

*If a school has two or more teams in one Division and they are playing as separate teams and one of those teams qualifies for the Grand Final, the players selected for the Grand final team must have played at least half the rostered matches for that team.
